Tour Itinerary: 05 Nights – 06 Days

 

Day 1:  Arrive at Paro International Airport. Complete Immigration formalities and transfer to Thimphu. After check in to hotel, proceed for sightseeing tour of Thimphu, which includes the following places of interest:

  • Memorial Chorten
  • Kuensel Phodrang – World’s Largest Sitting Buddha Statue
  • BBS Tower – Provides a vantage point view of the Thimphu Valley.
  • Takin Preserve

Overnight stay in Thimphu.

 

Day 2:   After breakfast, proceed for full day sightseeing tour of Thimphu, which includes the following places of interest:

  • Folk Heritage Museum
  • Royal Textile Academy & Museum
  • Trashichhodzong – Fortress in Thimphu
  • Handicrafts Emporium

Overnight stay in Thimphu.

Day 3: After breakfast check-out form hotel and proceeds for Punakha, toward Punakha (Total 5 hours driving time). Enroute, halt at Dochu La – A mountain pass leading further into the Punakha Valley. It offers a stunning 360 degree panoramic view of Eastern Himalayan mountain ranges. The view is especially scenic on clear, winter days with snow-capped mountains forming a majestic backdrop to the tranquillity of the 108 chortens gracing the mountain pass. Enjoy lunch at newly open restaurant Druk Wangyel Café. Before check-in at hotel visit the following places:

  • Punakha Dzong
  • Chimi Lhakang

Day 4: Early check out from hotel and proceed to Paro. The Paro valley extends from the confluence of the Paro Chhu and the Wang Chhu rivers at Chuzom upto Mt. Jomolhari at the Tibetan border to the North. This picturesque region is one of the widest valleys in the kingdom and is covered in fertile rice fields and has a beautiful, crystalline river meandering down the valley. After checking into your hotel, you would proceed for a sightseeing tour of Paro which would include the following places:

  • Rinpun Dzong
  • Kyichu Lakhang – Famous Monastery in Paro
  • Ta Dzong

Day 5:  After breakfast proceed for day excursion tour of Taktsang Monastery – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tour will be optional since it requires 2-3 hours trekking to reach the Monastery. Ponies are available for hire.
